Your Deodorant Could be Dangerous for Your Health!

Your Deodorant Could be Dangerous for Your Health!
Irvine, CA, March 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Skin is your largest organ. It is also very absorbing, which means that the deodorants and other body care items you put on it can be absorbed into your body and into your bloodstream.

Additionally, using traditional anti-perspirants can block sweat pores, which prevents the body from releasing toxins and cooling itself down when overheated, both necessary and well-designed functions.

Most store-bought deodorants and antiperspirants have a slew of man-made chemicals that could cause wide-spread systemic damage to the body. Women who shave under their arms could be worse off, since shaving may cause nicks to the skin (even ones so tiny that they are naked to the human eye), and speed up the delivery of those chemicals via an “open door” into the body.

Common contents of common deodorant/antiperspirants:

Aluminum: A known neurotoxin, it has been linked to breast cancer, prostate cancer, and Alzheimer’s Disease.

Parabens: Linked to birth defects, sterility, cancer, and organ toxicity. Known for being endocrine disruptors, they interfere with hormones.

Propylene Glycol: May cause damage to the central nervous system, heart, and liver. Also used as “anti-freeze.”

Phthalates: Increase likelihood of cell mutation, disrupt endocrine receptors, and are linked to birth defects.

Triclosan: The FDA classifies this as a pesticide. May be cancer-causing.

TEA, DEA, FD&C Colors, Fragrance, Talc, and other potentially harmful ingredients are also added.

Estrogen receptors are all over the body, but there are particularly a lot in breast tissue. Using chemical deodorants are thought to contribute to the development of breast cancer. Indeed, a high amount of tumors are found in the area closest to the armpit, leading researchers to believe chemical deodorants to be the culprit.

Knowledge of the potential toxicity of one’s store-bought deodorant could be overwhelmingly anxiety-causing, especially when the thought of giving up that deodorant could mean embracing some very unpleasant body odor. There are, of course, natural deodorants available in stores. However, many of these so-called “natural” deodorants still contain some of the above ingredients, and rarely stay put all day long. Because of this, Green Tidings, a health and wellness educator, has come out with a truly all-natural deodorant which actually lasts all day long (and was even marathon-tested!).
