Traverse City, MI, April 08, 2013 --(PR.com
)-- Free Nordic Walking Classes are returning to Traverse City’s Senior Health Fair at the Village at Bay Ridge from 10am – 2pm on Thursday, April 11th. The Senior Health Fair is open to public and will feature a variety of health and services testing, displays and information. The Health Fair is complete with door prizes and free ice cream.
Additional health services and activities will also include: blood pressure checks, eye care information, hearing aid cleaning, nutritional information, respiratory testing, fire safety tips, senior legal services and much more.
The Nordic Walking Classes will be coached by Pete Edwards, owner/founder of www.SkiWalking.com and The American Nordic Walking System
, and will introduce seniors to the 3 basic levels of Nordic Walking as developed by the American Nordic Walking System. Edwards will also provide special instructions for those with severe balance and stability issues. His durable one-piece walking poles are often a comfortable replacement to canes and walkers. Edwards warns seniors and those with balance issues to not get scammed by cheap/flimsy 2-piece and 3-piece collapsible poles with twist-locks or flip-locks. Quality one-piece poles that are sized correctly will always prove to be safer, lighter, stronger, more durable and much more user-friendly than collapsible poles that rattle, vibrate, gradually collapse or fail unexpectedly.
The Nordic Walking Classes will include the opportunity to "test-drive" real Nordic Walking Poles. Edwards always utilizes one-piece Swix and Exel Nordic Walking poles in 16 different lengths in order to ensure that each individual can practice with the perfect length poles for his or her height.
Seniors across the country are discovering the many wonderful benefits of walking with real Nordic Walking Poles. Even those with knee, hip and back issues, plus those with balance and stability issues, are finding that the correct length poles radically improve balance and stability, while at the same time reducing the stress to the weight-bearing joints. Edwards is dedicated to helping seniors walk taller, faster and much more comfortably with his user-friendly one-piece poles that prove to be safer, lighter and much more durable than cheap/flimsy 2-piece and 3-piece adjustable length/telescoping/collapsible twist-lock and flip-lock poles from China that tend to rattle, vibrate and/or collapsible unexpectedly.
The Village at Bay Ridge is located at 3850 Scenic Ridge (off Silver Lake Road) and is an independent living senior community offering exceptional quality, services and affordability.
The American Nordic Walking System and www.SkiWalking.com are headquartered in Empire, Michigan and ships Swix and Exel Nordic Walking Poles world-wide every day.
