US Senate Candidate De La Fuente to Speak at Florida LGBTA Summer Conference

Orlando, FL, July 08, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Florida LGBT Democratic Caucus will hold its 2016 Summer Conference & Leadership Gala in Ft. Lauderdale on July 9th. “Rocky” Roque De La Fuente, Democratic candidate for US Senate, is schedule to speak along with DNC Chair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. They will be joined by Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) and Hillary for America Campaign Manager Robby Mook.

Rep. Maloney is the first openly LGBT member of Congress and is co-chair of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus. Robby Mook is the first openly LGBT campaign manager of a major presidential campaign.

DNC Chair Wasserman Schultz, who represents one of the largest LGBT communities in the country, once characterized same sex marriage as “the civil rights issue of our generation.”

US Senate candidate De La Fuente is a strong supporter of equal rights and has great empathy for the LGBT movement. As a Hispanic American, he experienced discrimination early in his life and has fought against it ever since.

“I know what it’s like to be treated differently for something over which you have no control,” said De La Fuente. “As a Latino, I’ve suffered some unwarranted indignities. I know how hurtful it can be, and I never want to see someone suffer because of their sexual orientation or identify.”

The 2016 Summer Conference & Leadership Gala is an opportunity to meet like-minded Democrats from all over Florida, as well as elected leaders from federal, state, and local levels of government. The Conference is sold out, but tickets are still available for the Leadership Gala. It will be held at the Bahia Mar Hotel, 801 Seabreeze Boulevard Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33316.
