Appreciate. Celebrate. Participate. Stephanie's Discount Depot Hosts Family Event This Weekend for Teen Challenge of Peoria.
Peoria, IL, October 25, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Regular Stephanie’s Discount Depot customers already know that there’s very little that goes on there that’s “typical.” There’s nothing quite like the eclectic and cleverly displayed assortment of new, gently used and vintage merchandise available for sale in a warm and welcoming atmosphere...offering a dynamic and ever-changing shopping experience. So it would follow that the public event being held this Saturday and Sunday, October 29th & 30th, is far more than a “garden variety” customer appreciation happening.

With plenty to be grateful for with the resale store’s success and loyal customer base, co-owners Steve McMahill Sr. and Stephanie Greanias have opted to make their upcoming event more about the Peoria community and the people and organizations that nurture it.

“It’s less about us and more about the amazing people and organizations that we’ve come into contact with in the course of doing business in the Peoria-area community since moving to our new location in 2012,” says Greanias.

Most notable among these are Teen Challenge /of Peoria and Rodney Morss, Galesburg-based country gospel recording artist.

“In true Stephanie’s-style, we’re devoting our Appreciation Weekend efforts to supporting Teen Challenge --- and giving our customers and the community an opportunity to participate in raising funds to support this very worthwhile organization," says McMahill.

The community is invited to come and participate in the festivities. The store, located at 2512 N Knoxville at McClure, is offering:

- Free Hot Dogs and Chips, along with other lunch menu food and drink items for sale
- a special semi-truckload sale of new household items, all priced at 50% off Stephanie’s already guaranteed lowest pricing,
- 10% of all food and merchandise purchases this weekend goes to supporting Teen Challenge, Peoria’s faith-based residential facility for men struggling with drug, alcohol and other life controlling problems and
- daily performances by national award winning country gospel recording artist Rodney Morss. (Sat 2 PM, Sun 1PM)
-free Merchandise drawings and lively contests will be made every hour throughout the weekend.

Most important, the weekend is designed to shine a spotlight on Teen Challenge, Peoria’s residential adult men’s drug and alcohol rehab facility and programs. Representatives will be on hand to share information about their current programs and plans for growth. There will be Songs and Testimonies from The Men of Teen Challenge, throughout the day on Saturday. WCIC- FM 91.5 Christian Radio’s Jake Sommers will emcee Saturday’s program, keeping the day’s activities fun and exciting.

Stephanie’s has orchestrated a Raffle exclusively designed to raise funds for Teen Challenge and has provided the items being raffled (See store for Raffle details.) Any raffle ticket purchases made at the store that weekend will also be entered into a second drawing for free merchandise given throughout the weekend.

It’s no secret that the Peoria-area’s drug and alcohol problems are at record-high levels. There aren't many people today whose life or family hasn’t somehow been impacted by addiction issues. "We’ve been Teen Challenge supporters for several years now...and have seen first-hand the positive impact they’ve made on Peoria-area residents. But, they’re financially limited in how many residents they can accept into their programs at any given time. We know that our donation will stay local and be applied to helping more people in need right here at home," adds McMahill.

McMahill & Greanias are not shy about sharing their own personal experiences with drug and alcohol addiction and have become known locally for their willingness to share their experiences and encouragement with others whose lives have been affected by the devastating effects of addiction. They believe that Stephanie’s Discount Depot’s success is a testament to what’s possible on the other side of addiction.

McMahill, who also owns and operates McMahill Construction, welcomes any opportunity to reach out to those struggling with these issues. “I’ve been so incredibly blessed in my sobriety...and am driven to share with others that it’s never too late to turn life around. My work with other addicts and alcoholics is in large part what keeps me sober.”
