Rite Aid to Offer Flu Shots at Homeland Security Foundation of America (HSFA) Aware Health Town Hall Meeting in Atlanta, GA
Atlanta, GA, September 13, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Today, the Homeland Security Foundation of America (HSFA) Office of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced Rite Aid pharmacists from the Cumberland Parkway location will be on site at the upcoming health and wellness town hall meeting. The town hall will be held at the Sheraton-Suites Galleria in Atlanta and is scheduled for next Tuesday, September 18, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“Flu season is approaching and the debate about flu shots continues,” said Eric Brown, President, HSFA. “Though HSFA does not have an official position on whether people should get a flu shot, it’s important we provide a platform where life-saving information can be shared. We also want to ensure people have the opportunity to get a flu shot if they want, so we’re thankful Rite Aid is willing to support the town hall by coming on site and offering flu shots.”

Rite Aid pharmacists are specially trained certified immunizers. Rite Aid officials say the on-premise flu shots can be administered at no cost with most insurance and a discount will be offered to individuals who do not have insurance.

The keynote address at the Sheraton Galleria in Atlanta will be delivered by Dr. Lisa M. Koonin, Deputy Director of the Influenza Coordination Unit (ICU) in the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Koonin has been with the CDC since 1987, serving in various key roles, including Lead, Pandemic Medical Care and Countermeasures and (Acting) Director of the Influenza Coordination Unit, prior to her current position. After the keynote address, audience members will be able to engage a panel of community representatives and healthcare professionals in a Q&A session.
