Organic Consumers Association and Bareburger Announce Transparency Initiative

New York, NY, April 11, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Consumers Association (“OCA”) and Bareburger are pleased to announce Bareburger’s launch of a new initiative aimed at providing consumers with full transparency about the origin, nature and quality of the food they eat at Bareburger restaurants.

OCA has long been at the forefront of the fight for more honest marketing in the industry, and Bareburger is proud to join in that fight, beginning with a commitment to genuine change and improvement in its own marketing practices.

On November 21, 2018, OCA contacted Bareburger to state that some of Bareburger’s marketing practices may have been in violation of state consumer protection laws. Since then, OCA and Bareburger have met to discuss OCA’s concerns and cooperatively chart a path toward compliance. As a result of these discussions, Bareburger has committed to adopting widespread changes in its marketing strategies and campaigns, aimed at providing honest and more complete information to consumers.

By taking steps like identifying organic products on Bareburger’s menu at the ingredient level, removing more ambiguous “organic” statements from store signs and marketing materials, and providing more robust FAQs on the origins of its ingredients, Bareburger is ensuring that consumers know exactly what they’re getting. Bareburger has already begun rolling out these important changes over the past few months and, as part of its ongoing initiative, will complete the rollout to all of its retail locations and marketing outlets by summer.

OCA and Bareburger are proud to have reached agreement and decided to work together on this new initiative, which they believe will lead the way for others in the food service industry similarly to commit to transparency and honesty with consumers.
