Ann Arbor, MI, October 15, 2026 --(PR.com)-- WomensNet names SheFlag its August 2026 Startup Grant recipient as the sport races toward its first NCAA championship and Olympic debut.

SheFlag, the free college recruiting platform built for girls and women in flag football, has been awarded the August 2026 $10,000 Amber Startup Grant from WomensNet. The grant recognizes Co-Founders Nancy Ketola and Elizabeth Godek for building the recruiting infrastructure a fast-growing sport has been missing.

Flag football is the fastest-growing girls’ sport in the country. The NCAA named women’s flag football an emerging sport in January, more than 250 college programs now exist, and the first NCAA championship is projected for 2028, the same year the sport makes its Olympic debut in Los Angeles. As colleges add programs and scholarships, athletes and parents have had no dedicated place to get seen by coaches.

SheFlag fills that gap. Athletes build a free profile with their verified details, film links and achievements so college coaches can find and recruit them.

“As the sport exploded, no one built the infrastructure to support athletes and parents through the recruiting journey,” said Elizabeth Godek, Co-Founder and CEO. Godek spent 15 years in professional sports before moving into college athletics at the University of Michigan, where she was also a student-athlete.

“Every girl should have the same place to start and the same chance to be found,” said Nancy Ketola, Co-Founder and COO, who has spent 20 years in sports recruiting technology and raised three college athletes. “That’s why SheFlag is free. We want to remove every barrier between an athlete and her dream of playing in college.”

SheFlag will use the grant to expand athlete outreach through influencer, affiliate and marketing programs.

As a monthly winner, SheFlag is now eligible for one of WomensNet’s three $50,000 year-end Amber Grants.
