Microvascular Therapeutics to Present New Clinical and Preclinical Data on CardiSon™ and Solv™ at the 2026 Contrast Media Research Symposium

Presentations highlight superior echocardiographic performance of CardiSon and 70% reduction in myocardial infarct size with ultrasound-activated Solv in a preclinical model.

Tucson, AZ, October 30, 2026 --(PR.com)-- Microvascular Therapeutics, Inc. (MVT), a biotechnology company developing next-generation ultrasound contrast agents and ultrasound-mediated therapies, announced today that it will present two scientific talks at the 2026 Contrast Media Research (CMR) Symposium, being held November 1–4, 2026, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Evan C. Unger, MD, FACR, Executive Chairman and CEO of MVT, will present clinical and preclinical findings on CardiSon™ (MVT-100) and chair a scientific session. Emmanuelle J. Meuillet, PhD, Chief Scientific and Operating Officer of MVT, will present preclinical findings on Solv™ (MVT-101) and will chair a scientific session as well.

CardiSon Demonstrates Improved Echocardiographic Performance and Stability
Dr. Unger will present findings entitled “MVT-100: A Novel Neutral-Surface Ultrasound Enhancing Agent Demonstrates Room Temperature Stability, Reduced Renal Retention, and Enhanced Echocardiographic Performance from Preclinical Studies to First-in-Human Evaluation.”

CardiSon is a next-generation ultrasound-enhancing agent designed to provide improved echocardiographic imaging performance and greater formulation stability compared with currently marketed agents.

· Superior cardiac imaging: In a randomized study involving 32 participants, CardiSon demonstrated significantly improved global left ventricular opacification scores compared with Definity® (p=0.002).
· Reduced acoustic shadowing: CardiSon produced fewer acoustic shadowing events, approximately 3% compared with 8% for Definity (p<0.05).
· Improved formulation stability: Accelerated stability testing at 40°C demonstrated approximately 4% phospholipid loss over four weeks, compared with 18% for Definity.
· Reduced renal retention: Preclinical testing demonstrated more than a 2.5-fold reduction in renal retention compared with currently marketed UEA.
· Encouraging safety: No clinically meaningful safety signals were observed in the first-in-human study.

These findings support continued clinical development of CardiSon as a next-generation ultrasound-enhancing agent with potential advantages in image quality, echo lab and pharmacy logistics, and clinical workflow.

Solv Demonstrates Significant Therapeutic Benefit in Preclinical Models of Myocardial Infarction and Thrombosis

Dr. Meuillet will present findings from the abstract entitled “MVT-101: A Novel Phase-Shift Microbubble Platform for Ultrasound-Mediated Treatment of Microvascular Obstruction and Vascular Thrombosis.”

Solv utilizes MVT’s proprietary phase-shift microbubble (PSMB) technology. Administered as nanoscale particles, PSMBs are designed to penetrate microvascular obstructions before converting to acoustically active microbubbles following ultrasound exposure.

Microvascular obstruction (MVO) occurs in approximately 40–60% of patients following ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), despite successful reopening of the obstructed coronary artery. MVO is associated with increased myocardial damage, heart failure, and mortality, and no FDA-approved therapy is specifically indicated to restore perfusion after MVO develops.

· Approximately 70% reduction in myocardial infarct size in a porcine model of microvascular obstruction following treatment with Solv and ultrasound.
· Significant improvements across measures of myocardial reperfusion and cardiac function, including myocardial blood volume, coronary blood flow, wall motion, and troponin release.
· Greater overall efficacy than conventional perflutren microbubbles in an exploratory multiparametric analysis (p=0.0286).
· Significantly improved microvascular perfusion compared with conventional microbubbles in an independent rat model.
· Effective dissolution of venous thrombi in a porcine deep vein thrombosis model using transcutaneous or endovascular ultrasound, without observed pulmonary embolization or adverse pulmonary hemodynamic effects.

These findings support further development of Solv for treatment of microvascular obstruction following myocardial infarction and potentially other thrombotic diseases.

Advancing a Broad Ultrasound Technology Platform
“These two presentations demonstrate the breadth of MVT’s technology and the progress of our development programs,” said Dr. Unger. “CardiSon has demonstrated superior echocardiographic performance in human studies, while Solv has produced substantial reductions in myocardial injury and improvements in microvascular perfusion in preclinical models. We believe these results underscore the potential of our technology to improve both diagnostic imaging and therapeutic outcomes.”

Dr. Meuillet added, “The ability of our phase-shift microbubbles to penetrate microvascular obstructions before ultrasound activation represents an important distinction from conventional microbubble technology. The consistent therapeutic effects demonstrated across multiple preclinical models provide strong support for continued development of this approach.”
