The 2009 - Expthe.tv - Announces Top Prize Winners

The, a Nedgam Productions talent program, awards nine talented kids a share of over $50,000, and opens doors to the entertainment industry for many more.

Phoenix, AZ, June 04, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The world of acting and modeling have some new, young talent to consider as “ones to watch”. The ( expthe.tv ) hosted the 2nd event of its kind in Stamford, CT over the weekend of May 7 – 10, 2009, and even crowned a native Connecticut gal one of the top prizes. 248 contestants traveled from the Pacific to the Atlantic for a chance to win over $50,000 in total cash prizes and to network with over 30 different talent agents, talent managers, model managers and casting directors from Tinsel-town and the Big Apple.

Nine awards were granted to the top talent (divided by age) who achieved outstanding marks and callback responses from the industry judges of various networking events and competition categories in modeling and acting. Winners include the following talent from each age group:

Children 6 – 10 years old
1st Place, $10,000 winner – Alexandria Palmer, Hartford, CT
2nd Place, $5,000 winner – Alison Galbraith, Cincinnati, OH
3rd Place, $2,500 winner – James McKernan, Denver, CO

Pre-teens 11 – 13 years old
1st Place, $10,000 winner – Amy Lam, Phoenix, AZ
2nd Place, $5,000 winner – Jacob Welsch, Denver, CO
3rd Place, $2,500 winner – Cassidy Bacon Leaf, Denver, CO

Teens 14 – 18 years old
1st Place, $10,000 winner – Darian Booker, Secaucus, NJ
2nd Place, $5,000 winner – Frank Prell, Phoenix, AZ
3rd Place, $2,500 winner – Dakota Gross, Denver, CO

The competition was extremely fierce as over 70% of the attendees received a callback from at least one industry representative. A callback is defined by The as receiving interest for further opportunities with the requesting industry professional and does not guarantee work or representation. Some of the guest industry professionals who attended the event include in-house casting director for MGM, Paul Weber, talent agents from CESD and Innovative Artists, as well as talent managers Hines and Hunt, who currently represent one of last year’s winners Charles Lott Jr.

Eric and Holly Welsch, parents of contestant and winner Jacob, comment on the event experience. “We went into this venture with the expectation that we would discover two things. One, whether people in the acting and modeling industry would be interested in our son Jacob and two, after four days of performing, whether our son was genuinely interested in pursuing an acting and modeling career. Both questions were answered! Jacob received 19 callbacks and he can’t wait to get started! As a side benefit, Jacob met some really great people who have become good friends; they are still texting everyday. Again, we thank you so much for the experience and the opportunities that are now available to our son!”
