US Building Consultants Pushing for ASTM standard for inspections

This is an important step in the process as we move forward in this crisis. ASTM International is one of the foremost recognizable associations to be involved in helping to establish proper standards for the inspection of Chinese and other defective drywall. Mulholland feels that without a standard, the opportunity for substandard practices will continue to occur.

Gainesville, FL, September 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Spiderman S. Mulholland, a leading forensic expert on building envelope, water intrusion, toxic mold, and Chinese Drywall of U S Building Consultants, Inc., with the assistance of Bob Thomas, chairman of the E06.58 and acting ASTM liaison for the Defective Drywall in America workgroup has corresponded with ASTM International for the creation of a task committee on developing standards for inspection of Chinese and other defective drywall.

"This is an important step in the process as we move forward in this crisis," said Mulholland. ASTM International is one of the foremost recognizable associations to be involved in helping to establish proper standards for the inspection of Chinese and other defective drywall. Mulholland feels that without a standard, the opportunity for substandard practices will continue to occur.

The inspection standard which Mulholland and the DDIA workgroup completed several months ago will be presented during the October 20, 2009 meeting of the E06.41 Air Quality Committee, chaired by Theresa Weston, in Atlanta, Georgia. The ASTM International website states that, they are “a trusted source for technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services. Known for their high technical quality and market relevancy, ASTM International standards have an important role in the information infrastructure that guides design, manufacturing and trade in the global economy.”
