We the People, Inc. of the United States Provides Effective Relief Method for Haiti Victims
Tallahassee, FL, January 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- As organizations, churches, and people are researching the best methods to help the Haitian people by the quickest and most effective means, a Tallahassee nonprofit, We the People, Inc. of the United States (WTP) has supplied their community with exactly that. Friday, January 15th, showed the first signs of food and international aid making their way through the devastation and rubble to the capital city of Haiti. Those rescued will join the estimated 250,000 injured and 1.5 million homeless in rampant search for water, food, and medical care. Where will all these injured go? Hospitals in Haiti lie in ruins and the infrastructure to transport patients are tremendously hazardous for relief workers. Saint Nicholas is one of the few surviving hospitals capable of providing adequate treatment for the injured. Located in the nearby town of St. Marc, this 110-bed hospital is expected to receive a vast amount of the injured. They are in dire need of considerable medical assistance, water, and substantial medical supplies. WTP has come up with a notable and effective method of assisting in this effort.

WTP is currently in need of community support to raise $15,000 to send medical supplies, surgical equipment, food, and water directly to St. Nicholas Hospital in St. Marc. A team of doctors and volunteers, led by Dr. Mark Atkinson from the University of Florida College of Medicine, departed immediately after the earthquake to donate their services at the hospital. The cargo includes an x-ray machine and 3-gas anesthesia machine, food, water, and medical supplies. The pallets of water in the shipment are of the highest essential for the Haiti victims and will reach St. Nicholas in pivotal timing as the influx of patients begins to surge in. WTP is seeking the support of local churches, organizations, and individuals willing to help in this extraordinary effort. This is no small feat, as the seaports are unusable and the roads found impassable. This shipment will be orchestrated by the efforts of Jacksonville-based nonprofit America’s Heart that offers their transport and shipping expertise to provide relief to third world and hard-to-reach countries. WTP has funded over $70 Million in donated goods this year through the international relief projects of America’s Heart. WTP is seeking the support of Tallahassee to send this critically-needed shipment to Haiti immediately. If you would like to make a donation, please call WTP at 850-907-0600. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
