ALi Broadcast to Broadband Gateway Chipset Integrates iWedia SAT/TER>IP Server Software

ALi Corporation today announced that iWedia, a leading provider of software solutions for TV devices, is providing its latest SAT/TER>IP server software on ALi’s chipsets for broadcast to broadband gateways.

Taipei, Taiwan, February 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- ALi Corporation, a leading Set-Top Box (STB) solution provider, today announced that iWedia, a leading provider of software solutions for TV devices, is providing its latest SAT/TER>IP server software on ALi’s chipsets for broadcast to broadband gateways.

An early adopter of the SAT>IP standard, iWedia has developed an end-to-end solution including both a server and a client software.

iWedia has integrated its server software, which has received SES ASTRA certification for Version 1.2 of the specifications, with the Broadcast to Broadband Bridge (B3) family of chipsets from ALi Corporation, which are targeted at satellite, cable, and terrestrial headless broadcast to broadband gateways.

These SoCs are highly optimized for transforming up to eight High Definition (HD) TV channels into IP format while consuming less than 500mW.

iWedia server software gives support to both dynamic (unicast) and static (multicast) operations. The mode of operation is chosen per tuner.

A Web UI allows configuring and administrating the server through any Web browser. Software upgrade is also possible though the Web UI.

Support to TR-069 protocol and to an extension of the TR-135 data model can be added to make the product remotely manageable.

“We are delighted to reach such an important milestone with ALi Corporation,” says Hans-Jürgen Désor, CEO of iWedia. “ALi is able to manage multiple ranges of SOCs including this one dedicated for broadcast to broadband gateways and we want to accelerate the go to market of their OEMs with the availability of our certified SAT>IP server software on their chipsets.”

“Broadcast to Broadband needs are increasing with the growth of tablets or HDMI dongles as second screen. We do believe in the headless gateway and dedicated applications to be the right way to provide broadcast quality content on multiple devices. The joint offer of ALi SOC and iWedia software will ease the development of new products from OEMs,” says Tony Chang, General Manager of ALi’s International Business Unit.
