Meteorite Expert Geoff Notkin Speaking at Two Major Space Conferences in May
Tucson, AZ, April 30, 2014 --(PR.com)-- California is home to two of the biggest and best space-themed conferences in the country, and world-renowned meteorite expert Geoff Notkin has been asked to speak at both of them this May.

An author, adventurer, and award-winning television show host, Notkin is best known as star of the international hit television series "Meteorite Men." He is also in high demand as a public speaker and science popularizer, thanks in part to his success as a prolific writer and his role as an advisor to Deep Space Industries, a commercial asteroid mining venture. Notkin currently hosts the educational TV series "STEM Journals," produced by Cox Media.

First on the docket for Notkin in May is Spacefest VI, a popular annual event that brings together astronauts, artists, scientists, and space enthusiasts from all over the world. This is Notkin’s third consecutive appearance at Spacefest, being held on May 8-11 at the Pasadena Convention Center.

Notkin’s company, Aerolite Meteorites, which sells authentic space rocks to customers ranging from new collectors to the world’s finest museums, will have an exhibit of spectacular meteorites for sale throughout the conference in the exhibit hall. His two books, "Meteorite Hunting: How To Find Treasure From Space," and "Rock Star: Adventures of a Meteorite Man," will also be available for purchase.

On Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. PT, Notkin will give an entertaining and informative presentation on his global adventures as a meteorite hunter, which have taken him from the Arctic Circle to the Australian outback and over 45 different countries.

On Sunday, May 11, Geoff joins a stellar group of experts for the panel discussion, "Asteroids: Friend and Foe." Apollo 9 astronaut Rusty Schweickart, also on the Asteroid Panel, is one of sixteen astronauts scheduled to appear at Spacefest VI.

Following Spacefest, Notkin heads to Los Angeles for the 33rd Annual International Space Development Conference (ISDC 2014), the yearly conference of the National Space Society. The gathering will take place May 14-18 at the Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel, located near Los Angeles International Airport.

The theme of ISDC 2014 is "A Space Renaissance" and will include many high-profile experts and dignitaries, including Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Motors.

Geoff will be the Keynote Speaker at a luncheon on Thursday, May 15, which will be emceed by Dr. Nicola Sarzi-Amade of Scorpius Space Launch Company. The presentation will focus on meteorites and private sector space exploration.

Then, on Friday, May 16, Notkin will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Governor’s Dinner, which includes a keynote address by former NASA astronaut Rick Searfoss, and award presentations to Elon Musk as well as a team representing the Mercury MESSENGER mission, among other award recipients.

Spacefest VI and ISDC 2014 are both open to the public with paid registration. Visit http://www.spacefest.info/VI/Over.html and http://isdc.nss.org/2014 for complete information and registration details.
