Inglewood Voters Forum Puts Mayor and City Council Candidates Before a CBS LA Journalist Panel and a Citywide Audience on October 14

Inglewood, CA, October 12, 2026 --(PR.com)-- Inglewood's first hybrid civic engagement event lets residents shape the questions in real time through the Opine app, in the room or from anywhere, as the city weighs its most consequential local election in recent memory.

The Inglewood Voters Forum will bring candidates for Mayor and City Council Districts 1 and 2 before a panel of three CBS LA journalists on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Fr3e Space, 214 S. La Brea Ave. Billed as Before You Vote: No Excuses, it is the final community candidate forum before the November 3 election.

The forum is Inglewood's first hybrid civic engagement event. Powered by technology partner Opine, it lets residents take part in real time from the room or from anywhere, with no app download or account required. Verified community voices, not campaign talking points, will shape what the candidates are asked.

The event is hosted by Fr3e Space in partnership with the communities of Inglewood. It is nonpartisan, free and open to the public, and every qualified candidate has been invited.

A citywide election with national stakes
Inglewood voters will choose a mayor and two City Council members who will lead the city through the Super Bowl's return in February 2027 and the 2028 Olympic Games. Mayor James T. Butts Jr., the city's longest-serving mayor, is seeking a fifth term against five challengers.

Twelve candidates are on the ballot across the three races. As of October 10, seven have confirmed they will take part:
Measure BB and a $3.4 million ballot fight

The forum also comes amid one of the most expensive local ballot battles in the region. Measure BB would end the City's authority to allow commercial advertising on public streets and sidewalks. It has drawn heavy spending from both sides.

Campaign filings show committees backed by Inglewood's stadiums and a billboard company spent more than $3.4 million in the first six months of 2026 alone:
The stakes reach City Hall's budget. City officials say Measure BB could cut a billboard revenue stream worth $3 million to $7.5 million a year, while Measure AT, which would raise taxes on large-venue event tickets, could bring in $45 million to $50 million more (LAist). Voters will also decide on Measure MM, a $396 million Inglewood Unified School District facilities bond.

Proponents and opponents of all three measures have been offered free booth space at the forum, on equal terms. Three have confirmed confirmed.

A journalist-led panel, powered by the community

The 90-minute forum pairs independent journalism with live community input:

• A CBS LA journalist panel. Three CBS LA journalists lead the questioning, with one serving as moderator. Questions are set independently and are not shared with campaigns in advance. Panelists can follow up and press for specifics.
• Questions from verified residents. Through Opine, residents rank the issues that matter most, answer open-response questions and propose solutions. Location verification confirms that responses come from community members, so the themes the panel draws on reflect Inglewood voices.
• Equal rules for every candidate. Candidates in each race receive the same treatment and response time.
• Reach beyond the room. Fr3e Space seats 100, with standing room for 100 more. Anyone else can join through Opine from a phone or computer and take part on equal footing with those in the room.

The forum will be professionally recorded, and segments will be posted on CBS LA digital platforms after the event.

"Fr3e Space was built to bring people together, and there is no more important gathering than this one," said Lia Jones, Owner, Fr3e Space. "This is a forum hosted by the community and for the community."

Media planning to attend should RSVP to info@electioninglewood2026.com by 10/12/2026 for credentials and seating.
