In celebration of its 10th Anniversary, the Lagond Music School, a not-for-profit organization located in Westchester County, announces the Lagond-A-Thon, a live video streaming performance and fundraising event on Friday, February 10th from 8pm to 12 midnight. This global online performance will commemorate the innovative contemporary music school’s 10 years of serving a diverse community of over 1,000 students who reside throughout Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam Counties as well as the surrounding tri-state area. In announcing the fundraising event, which will create scholarships for students in need and help the school purchase much needed equipment, the Lagond Music School founders, Charlie Lagond (Musical Director) and Rosanne Lana (Executive Director), are also delighted to showcase their new performance space, The Haven, which has doubled the school’s size to 4,000 square feet.

During the 4-hour Lagond-A-Thon, music lovers will be able to enjoy performances by professional musicians, faculty, and student musicians that will be streamed live into viewers homes from the Lagond Music School’s website. The purpose is to broaden awareness of the school and help to create an audience and fan base for a new generation of talented musicians.

Lagond Music students who move on from this unique music program are well prepared to further their education. The school has achieved a 100% college admissions rate, and their students often attend the nation’s top music colleges and conservatories. Moreover, two thirds of Lagond’s most recent graduates over the past two years have been awarded over $1.8 million in scholarships.

Lagond is making a positive difference in the lives of all students who attend their programs, for the school takes music education very seriously as it nurtures and trains contemporary music students with the same rigor afforded to classical music. This artistic regimen, along with Lagond’s parallel focus on live performance, promotes excellence of discipline, expression, commitment and achievement. These experiences not only help Lagond students achieve their full creative potential, but are equally influential in their academic success and social achievements.

Lagond’s founders, Charlie Lagond and Rosanne Lana, have been committed to breaking down barriers for their students who tend to be interested in emulating modern rock, jazz, funk, and Latin and pop bands rather than classical music and they have helped to transform the lives of students from a variety of socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds, including special needs youngsters. In fact, the Lagond School of Music has received awards and special grants from Arts Westchester and Arts for People for their initiatives and work with special needs students, and most recently for some at risk students.

The Lagond-A-Thon’s goal is to raise $20,000 to help this unique, community-minded music school continue to help prepare serious music students for careers as contemporary musical artists. Charlie Lagond attributes their long term success to “providing a balanced educational approach to learning through a formal music training program and offering a plethora of live performing experiences for as wide a range of talented young musicians as we can. In the process Lagond Music is committed to change the lives of students in a positive and meaningful way.
