HCA/HealthONE’s Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children Receive Seventh Consecutive “A” Grade in Leapfrog Hospital Safety
Denver, CO, November 09, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Presbyterian/St. Luke’s (P/SL) and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children (RMHC) has earned its seventh consecutive "A" grade from The Leapfrog Group for Fall 2018. Assigned to more than 2,600 hospitals across the nation twice annually, the Hospital Safety Score is the gold standard rating for patient safety, compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts and administered by The Leapfrog Group, a national, independent nonprofit.

The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care. The first and only hospital safety rating to be peer-reviewed in the Journal of Patient Safety, the Hospital Safety Score is free to the public and designed to give consumers information they can use to protect themselves and their families when facing a hospital stay.

“Achieving this grade in seven consecutive Leapfrog reports is a testament to the hard work, diligence and dedication you provide to our patients every single day,” said Maureen Tarrant, President and CEO at P/SL and RMHC. “By improving checks and balances and ensuring strong lines of communication, we are able to keep patients safe, reduce infection rates and achieve high quality outcomes. It is truly a collaborative effort and we appreciate everyone’s contributions to achieve this high honor once again.”

They would also like to extend sincere congratulations to their sister HealthONE hospitals for earning excellent grades. The entire HealthONE system of hospitals, six in total, were among the 855 awarded an “A” for their commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S. As part of the HealthONE system, The Medical Center of Aurora, North Suburban Medical Center, Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center/Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, Rose Medical Center, Sky Ridge Medical Center, and Swedish Medical Center work together to provide a higher level of care.

“HealthONE’s commitment to patient safety is paramount and these safety grades are a testament to our focus on the highest quality care,” said Sylvia Young, President and CEO of HealthONE. “Leapfrog’s efforts to make hospital safety and quality measures transparent and accessible are deeply respected. Every member of our team at the hospital level takes seriously our responsibility to provide trusted care to every patient, every time.”
