Wynona's House is honoring its team members and celebrating women past and present this Women's History Month. Senator Wynona Lipman, known as the "Steel Magnolia," was the first African American woman elected to the New Jersey Senate in 1971. Senator Lipman’s legacy lives on in Wynona's House in Newark, which commemorates its 25th year of service in 2024. Wynona's House will be relaunching its Steel Magnolia event later this year; the Steel Magnolia Soiree will take place on June 5. - March 29, 2024

On the heels of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Wynona’s House Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is emphasizing the importance of raising awareness of domestic violence all year round. In particular, more emphasis is needed in regards to engaging men and boys on the topic and helping them to become better allies to domestic violence victims. Wynona’s House Exceeds Fundraising Goal at Third Annual Charity Golf Outing Which Will Empower Essex County Children at Risk of Abuse
This event helps raise necessary funds to provide a strong community response to child abuse, as well as provides meals and facility renovations to ensure a child-friendly and safe environment for children and their families. Santiago brings a wealth of experience to her role, possessing 25 years of child advocacy experience. She has enacted positive change in the communities she has served. Wynona’s House recently launched a new project called Prevention-By-Design, which Santiago will lead.
