)-- Principled Technologies (PT) performed hands-on tests that compared the performance of an HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 server in three different storage configurations:
- Enterprise SATA SSDs
- KIOXIA RM5 Value SAS SSDs
- KIOXIA CD5 NVMe mainstream SSDs
PT found that the KIOXIA drives enabled the server to process data analytics at a faster rate than it could with the SATA SSD drives - 139 percent more operations per second (OPS) with the value SAS drives and 177 percent more operations per second with the NVMe mainstream drives. The KIOXIA drives also ran with lower read latency at 5.238 ms (NVMe mainstream SSDs) and 6.059 ms (value SAS SSDs) compared to 14.538 ms of read latency with the enterprise SATA SSDs.
PT investigated the costs associated with each server configuration and found that the KIOXIA SSDs delivered significantly more operations per dollar. The server with KIOXIA value SAS SSDs processed 115 percent more OPS per dollar than the enterprise SATA SSD configuration, while the server with NVMe mainstream SSDs processed 141 percent more.
